Aspirus is recruiting in three sites, all with competitive compensation and bonus metrics:

Aspirus Langlade Hospital (Antigo, Wis.) has three full-time and four part-time hospitalists and is recruiting two more full-time physicians. This 25-bed critical access hospital has a four-bed ICU and 24/7 ED coverage. Hospitalists round on 13 or 14 patients per 12-hour shift. Average admissions are between one and six during day shifts, up to five per 12-hour night shifts.

Hospitalists work seven-on/seven-off with a combination of days and nights. Strong, supportive collaboration with other providers, and a low cost of living.

Aspirus Riverview Hospital (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.) has five full-time hospitalists and is recruiting two more. The hospital has an eight-bed critical care unit and a new 16-bed ED that opened this year. Hospitalists see a maximum of 15 patients per day while the typical daily census is between eight and 14. Hospitalists manage ICU patients, and candidates who can manage ventilators and place lines are preferred.
Hospitalists work seven-on/seven-off, although a flexible schedule is available. A cohesive group in a growing hospital.

Aspirus Wausau Hospital (Wausau, Wis.) has 11 physicians, four NPs/PAs, and is recruiting one more physician. This level II trauma center has an open ICU and five physician rounding teams supported by admitting providers. Teams average 16 patients per day.
Hospitalists work seven-on/seven-off in 12hour shifts, and full time is 15 shifts per month. All specialties are available.

Avera McKennan Hospital is a 545-bed tertiary care center that has earned national awards in patient care, technology, quality initiatives and Magnet Certified nursing staff.

Avera eCARE now partners with hospitals and clinics in 30 states. Avera eHelm is a stand-alone facility that houses the nation’s largest virtual hospital with eICU, eEmergency, ePharmacy, eSenior Care, eBehavioral Health and eHospitalist.

Employment model: Hospitalists are hospital-employed.

Services: ED unassigned coverage, primary care coverage, subspecialist consultation, ICU coverage, teaching service and admitting service for several service lines. Seasoned advanced practice provider support.

Schedule and coverage: Fourteen 12-hour shifts per month or 168 shifts per year. The schedule features hybrid (flexible) scheduling with the option of telemedicine shifts and bedside shifts. Physicians cover Avera McKennan, Avera On Louise (a specialty hospital) and the Avera eCARE eHospitalist service, all in Sioux Falls.

Compensation: Salary guarantee and generous benefit package, with extra shift pay and night differential. Biannual retention bonus, quality bonus, educational loan assistance, relocation, CME, malpractice and 403(b) retirement match of 5%.

North Shore Medical Center (NSMC) is a 372-bed academic community medical center on the North Shore of Boston. NSMC is a member of the Partners Healthcare System, whose founding members include Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Services: Hospital medicine is the primary service for approximately 70% of all NSMC hospitalizations. Hospitalists also provide medicine consultations for patients admitted to the psychiatry, surgery and orthopedic services. Patients admitted to the ICU are followed by intensivists 24/7 and are not part of hospital medicine’s practice scope.

Schedule and coverage: Day rounders typically work a seven-on/seven-off schedule with shifts of 10 or 12 hours. Admitters work eight-hour shifts starting at 3 p.m. Nocturnists work 12-hour shifts and have four weeks of paid vacation. Daily workloads are designed for sustainable careers and quality time at the bedside.

Compensation: NSMC offers a competitive compensation package that combines a base salary with quarterly incentive compensation based on quality, citizenship and productivity metrics.

Professional development: There is support for growth in the areas of clinical expertise, quality improvement, teaching and/or leadership.
